How to start modeling? | theFstate Creative Agency
When building your portfolio
1.start with DIGITALS/ POLAROIDS-photos taken in natural sunlight without the use of any filters. Photos that are well lit and taken directly out of the camera; raw images...the real you.
2. Full length SWIMSUIT PHOTO to showcase your physique (Fitness and Fit Models)
3. A clean HEADSHOT (for actors and commercial models) Shot in studio for actors and should show character. For models a photo of your “Smize” (smiling with your eyes). The focus is on the persona of the model.
4. An EDITORIAL fashion shot where the model is selling the clothing and the focus is on the clothes (for runway and editorial models). Editorial shots focus mainly on the details of the clothing alone and telling a story and are considered to be styled or stylized photo shoots. Editorials are an art form and are not as simple as having a light ring. Editorials convey a message and story and should evoke and invoke an emotional response. Everything from hair, makeup, facial expressions, location, clothing and style effect the image quality and storyline. The least respected and the most difficult to do. Published editorials often involve multiple designers or brands and more than one look although there are exceptions depending on the publication.
4. A COMMERCIAL shot where the model is selling a particular product and is used for sales and marketing. Commercial shots typically involve the character of the model. The main purpose of a commercial shot is for sales and to sell a product or service.
