RIAA CERTIFIED PLATINUM AUSTIN SEXTON

We know that through experience that the life of success and the perception of its glamour, thinking that there is no hard work... can leave many with the thought that it is all easy and effortless. We also know that there are many difficult challenges that one must overcome. We inquire about what centers this once-in-a-generation artist during those rough and tumble times. "All the people I want to prove wrong, including myself. I’m too far into music being my life to stop now. I also think about my parents giving me the motivation, the pieces and skills I need to do this. So I can’t let them down." Cites Sexton

The significant challenges that he has had to overcome include moving to California. "Moving to California...It wasn’t easy. At first I had a place to stay (a couch to sleep on) but when that situation ended I had to “grow up” quick. I slept in my car for a few weeks while I was working at an Outback Steakhouse saving up for a down payment on an apartment. And even when I moved in, the cost of living here is insane. So I had to do what I had to do to get by. And at the same time, trying to figure out how to record wasn’t easy, but I had a mentor. I’ve also had to deal with the deaths of a lot of my hometown friends but that comes with getting older and people's circumstances. I’ve grown a lot in these last 5 years though, and I’m proud of the man I’ve become."

What would you like for people to remember about you? "That I never quit. If you knew me growing up, you knew this ...is... what I was destined to do; even if I didn’t know it at the time. But I want everyone to know I stuck to my guns and anything is possible if you work hard enough.

Austin genuinely expresses his gratitude for the support of his fans.

Thank you for supporting and please continue to do so. There’s so much good music coming out you have NO IDEA!!!"

You can find Austin moving on up with the Jeffersons to theme song of his life and exercising his superpower as a finisher. "Not everyone can complete a task. Whether it be a song, a mix, a article. Anything. But if I start it, I’m damn sure gonna finish it. "

Austin sets his goals and sights high with working hard to prepare for a Grammy win someday, growing to double platinum and eventually inking a major tour deal next year. "Musically, lately I’ve been starting with a lot of drum and bass. I make a drum groove either live or in the box and add a baseline to it. It makes you move more. Then I add the sugar and spices to accent it. After that it’s just filling in the spaces. It also depends on my mood. I’ve been trying to be a bit more upbeat lately. So let’s see where that takes me."

Who would you like to collaborate with?

"Sheeesh. So many names. John Mayer, Leon Bridges, Lucky Daye, Maxwell, Snoh Allegra just to name a few. But also I think I could make a dope song with future. Kaytranada would be sick as well. Lastly, Tame Impala."

You can find Austin traveling when he can escape the LA fast lane, running in the mornings, listening to audio books and checking out the occasional new album drop.

Austin leaves us all with this message. "I love you. Very very much. An album coming soon."
